BeyondAccess brings professional artists with and without disabilities from the U.S. and Japan together for performance and artistic collaboration through taiko, dance, and music.
Following the concert, a Happy Hour with Artists & Musicians is planned, offering drinks, light bites, and an opportunity for artists, audiences, and community members to connect and exchange ideas.

AXIS Dance Company x enTaiko Ensemble

Collective Frequency is a new interdisciplinary performance bringing together artists with and without disabilities through taiko and contemporary dance. Dancers and drummers co-create through rhythm, vibration, and movement, exploring sound as something that can be heard, seen, and physically felt.

Featuring Deaf and Hard of Hearing Taiko from Japan

enTaiko presents ROU, a powerful performance celebrating Deaf artistry, cross-cultural collaboration, and the future of inclusive taiko. The performance features two renowned Deaf taiko groups making their first Portland appearance: Kobiki from Osaka and Yumenko from Tokyo, Japan. Their work reveals how Deaf drummers experience rhythm through vibration, movement, and visual musicality—offering audiences a rare opportunity to experience taiko beyond sound.

Collaboration with AXIS Dance Company

enTaiko collaborated with AXIS Dance Company on Kinematic/Kinesthetic, bringing live taiko and percussion into an interdisciplinary work exploring disability, movement, and technology. The collaboration brought together disabled and non-disabled dancers, musicians, and assistive mobility technologies in a shared performance. enTaiko presents a concert that blends traditional Japanese taiko with classical music and breakdancing. Led by conductor Inés Voglar Belgique and featuring the Portland Youth Philharmonic String Ensemble, the performance reimagines enTaiko’s piece "Celebration." Breakdancing champion Walle Brown adds a dynamic street-style element, creating a unique fusion of classical and modern influences while honoring Taiko's cultural roots.
