What is taiko?

It’s an art and form of drumming that has its roots in ancient Japanese culture.

Openness - participants from different ethnic backgrounds will work with each other to create music and learn to be open to the cultural traditions of others

Self-confidence & self-esteem - comes from achieving success at a challenging activity that is also appealing because of its energy

Responsibility & integrity - comes from consistently fulfilling a commitment to a group of people depending on each other

GOMIBAKO taiko?

“gomi-bako” meansgarbage can. we use these drums in the beginning so studentsdevelop respect for the instrument andexperience different sounds
